Department Overview

Welcome to the Department of Microbiology, established in 2014, where we offer a dynamic three-year B.Sc. program to 36 students. Our well-equipped laboratory facilitates hands-on learning and innovation. Our experienced faculty supports academic, extracurricular, and research activities. Our alumni excel in prestigious institutions and prominent positions globally. Our program cultivates scientific, analytical, and problem-solving skills, covering microorganism characteristics, applications in drug production, pollution control, and more.

We provide courses in English, biology, research methodology, and intellectual property rights. Students engage in biochemistry, biostatistics, computer science, and compulsory social service activities. Our department conducts research on economically important microbes and clinical pathogens. Graduates emerge with robust microbiological knowledge, research skills, and career opportunities in food industries, pharmaceuticals, medical research, agriculture, or higher education. Aljasiya P.P

Assistant Professor & HOD

Aljasiya P.P. has completed her MSc in Microbiology and is a NET-qualified(2018) professional, demonstrating her expertise and competence in the field. She is currently pursuing her PhD at MES College Ponnani, under the calicut university focusing on research in Epidemiology, a critical area of study that investigates the distribution and determinants of health-related events in populations.

With over 10 years of teaching experience, Aljasiya has a rich background in academia, having mentored more than 20 postgraduate projects. Her role as a Microbiologist Intern at MES Medical College, Perinthalmanna, provided her with valuable practical experience in a clinical setting, further enhancing her knowledge and skills.

Aljasiya is dedicated to advancing the field of microbiology and epidemiology through her research and teaching, contributing significantly to the academic and scientific community.
